Frequently Asked Questions
Things you think about.
What should I expect in our first therapy session?
Our first session is an opportunity for us to connect and learn about you and the details of your life, your family and loved ones, and your interest in therapy. In our first session, you also have an opportunity to get to know your therapist.
What if I don’t know what to say in therapy?
It’s okay if you don’t know what to stay or how to start therapy. Sometimes you want to understand why things happen. Other times you may just want to deal with a current stress event.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length.
What are the rates?
My rates are $160 for individual therapy and $180 for couples or family therapy. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and AETNA PPO insurance policies.
What kind of commitment do I need to make to therapy?
I recommended giving therapy some time, so I prefer if clients commit to weekly sessions for a minimum of 12-16 weeks. This way, we can build our therapeutic relationship and create space for movement and change in your life. Learning to understand yourself is a process, not a project, and it takes time.
What are your cancelation policies?
I understand if you may need to cancel an appointment. My cancellation policy is included with your intake paperwork.
Will I have homework?
We may decide that you might find it helpful to engage in some activities or assignments outside of our meetings, in the form of “homework.”
Where will I meet for appointments?
I will meet with you either virtually or in person in Forest Park. Street parking is available at the Forest Park location and the office is accessible via the CTA Blue Line/Madison St. Bus. Please message for office location details.
