My Therapeutic Method
The Importance of Making Connections
My clinical social work practice is psychodynamic, which means that we explore historic life events to connect the influence of our past to our adult lives. In this way, we learn how our experiences shape our personalities. Stressful events that occur in childhood can remain in the unconscious, and cause stress and issues later in personal and professional relationships. We work to craft new narratives, to redefine ourselves, and to alter and improve the trajectory of our lives.
In our work together we unwind the threads that defined us: stories you heard, stories you inherited, old stories, and scripts you play out in your current relationships. And then with a growth mindset, we work on recrafting your own story going forward to create the life you want and be the person you desire to become.
The intersection of my education and experience, along with my keen interest in your history as it relates to your current life, drawing connections, and reflecting those back to you, will inform your well-being.
